Choosing the right peel for your skin

Peels are designed for different jobs. Some are ideal for refreshing the skin and restoring glow, while others are intended to revise deeper concerns over time. A peel may be recommended to help with dull or uneven skin tone, congestion and breakouts, pigmentation and sun damage, fine lines and early signs of ageing, or rough and uneven texture.

We will always advise which peel is appropriate for you, and whether your skin needs preparation before treatment.

Three levels of peel, from a fresh glow to structured skin revision.

Mild skin peel, gentle brightening

A light exfoliating treatment designed to refresh the skin without downtime. Ideal if you are new to peels or want a simple glow boosting treatment. Includes a cleanse, peel and moisturise, leaving the skin feeling smoother and brighter.

DMK Lunchtime peel, radiance and refinement

A controlled, professional peel designed to improve skin brightness, texture and clarity with minimal downtime. More visible results than a mild peel while remaining suitable for many skin types. Often chosen to refine pores, support early ageing concerns or give a radiant boost before events.

DMK Pro Alpha six layer peel, advanced revision

An advanced resurfacing peel for deeper skin revision, working through a layered application to support renewal and improve texture. It forms part of a structured DMK programme: skin preparation with professional DMK homecare, a series of DMK facials and enzyme treatments, and ongoing aftercare. Recommended for pigmentation, acne scarring, uneven texture and visible signs of ageing.

What to expect from a chemical peel

Before treatment, we will assess your skin and discuss suitability, and some peels may require preparation beforehand. After treatment, mild redness or tightness can be normal, peeling varies depending on the peel used, and results improve progressively over time. Full aftercare guidance is always provided. Our priority is skin safety and long term improvement.

Is a chemical peel right for you?

Peels suit many skins but they are chosen carefully. If your skin barrier is compromised, highly sensitive or inflamed, alternative treatments may be recommended first. If you are unsure which option is right for you, booking a free skin consultation is the best place to start.

Getting the best from your peel

Pre care and aftercare

Peels work best on skin that has been prepared properly and looked after gently afterwards.

Before your peel

Start with a consultation. The right peel depends on your skin condition, sensitivity and goals, and some deeper peels need skin preparation beforehand, which we will plan with you.

Tell us about any retinoids, acids or active skincare you use, and any medication, so we can time your peel safely.

Avoid sunbeds and deliberate sun exposure in the week before your peel, and arrive without heavy makeup where you can.

Planning around an event? Book with a buffer of at least a few days, so your skin has time to settle and reveal its glow.

Looking after your skin afterwards

Some redness or tightness is normal after a peel, and visible flaking varies with the strength of the treatment. Lighter peels often cause no visible peeling at all.

Follow the aftercare guidance we give you on the day. It is tailored to the peel you had and your skin.

Keep skincare gentle for a few days: a mild cleanser, plenty of moisturiser, and a break from acids, retinoids and exfoliants until the skin has settled.

Protect your skin from the sun with a good SPF every day, and skip sunbeds, saunas and intense heat while your skin renews.

If your skin flakes, let it come away naturally. Picking can leave marks that outlast any peel.

LED can be added after a peel to calm the skin and support recovery, and we will suggest it where it helps.

Peel questions, answered

Are peels safe for all skin types?

We offer a range of skin peels with varying strengths to suit different skin types and concerns. A consultation ensures the right peel is selected based on your skin condition, sensitivity and goals.

Will my skin actually peel?

Sometimes, but only with certain peels. Some lighter peels work below the surface without visible peeling, while deeper peels may result in noticeable flaking or shedding of the skin. We will advise you on what to expect depending on the type of peel used.

How long is the downtime?

Downtime varies depending on the peel. Light peels usually have little to no downtime, while medium to deep peels may result in 3 to 7 days of skin shedding and increased sensitivity. We will provide full aftercare guidance.

Can I wear makeup afterwards?

We recommend leaving makeup off for at least 24 hours after your peel to allow your skin to heal and avoid irritation. After deeper peels, you may need to wait a few days.

How many sessions will I need?

For best results, we typically recommend a course of 3 to 6 treatments spaced a few weeks apart. This will depend on your skin goals and how your skin responds, and your therapist will customise a plan during your consultation.
