Inclusivity at Sirens City Retreat

A Space Where You Are Welcome

At Sirens City Retreat, inclusivity isn’t something we’ve added in, it’s part of how we work every day. We understand that visiting a salon can feel different for everyone, and this page is here to help you feel more at ease before your appointment. Whether you’re unsure what to expect, have specific needs, or simply want to know how we work, you are always welcome here. If you have any concerns before your visit, we encourage you to reach out so we can make sure everything is set up in the right way for you

Before Your Visit

It’s completely normal to feel unsure before visiting a salon, especially if it’s your first time or you’re not quite sure what to expect. We aim to make the process as clear and straightforward as possible. From the moment you book, you’ll receive the information you need ahead of your appointment, so nothing feels rushed or unclear on the day. If there is anything you’re unsure about, or something you’d prefer us to be aware of before you arrive, you are always welcome to get in touch. Taking the time to understand this in advance helps us make sure your appointment runs in the right way for you.

Understanding Individual Needs

Everyone experiences salon environments differently, and we recognise that what feels comfortable for one person may not for another. As someone who is neurodiverse, I have a personal understanding of how environment, communication and structure can impact your experience. Because of this, we take a considered approach to how appointments are carried out. If you have any preferences around communication, whether you would prefer a quieter appointment, more explanation, or a more structured approach, please let us know in advance. This allows us to prepare properly and make your visit feel as comfortable as possible. We aim to keep the environment calm, clear and predictable, while still delivering the level of service you would expect.

Culture & Communication

We are fortunate to work with a diverse client base from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. Being located close to the university means we regularly meet people from all over the world, each with different experiences and expectations. This is something we genuinely value and take into account in how we work. Clear communication is important to us. We take the time to explain treatments in a straightforward way and make sure you feel comfortable with what to expect. If there is anything you would like us to be aware of, whether that relates to culture, personal preferences or communication, please feel free to reach out before your appointment.

Privacy & Boundaries

We aim to create a space where both clients and our team feel comfortable, respected and able to carry out their role without discomfort. All appointments are handled with discretion, and any personal information shared with us is treated with respect and kept confidential. This works both ways. While we are here to support our clients, we also expect a professional and respectful environment for our team. Any behaviour that is inappropriate, including suggestive comments or actions that make a member of staff feel uncomfortable, will not be accepted. In these situations, we reserve the right to end the appointment and ask the client to leave. Our priority is to maintain a space where everyone feels safe, respected and at ease.

Gender-Neutral Approach

We operate as a gender-neutral salon. This means our treatments and pricing are based on the service itself, not on gender. Our focus is always on delivering the right treatment for the individual, without assumptions. The only exception to this is intimate waxing. We are not trained in male intimate waxing and are therefore unable to provide this service. If you are unsure about any treatment or would like clarification before booking, please feel free to get in touch.

HIV Inclusive Policy

We operate a fully inclusive policy and treat all clients with the same level of professionalism, care and respect. We do not ask for your HIV status and you will never be required to disclose this on any consultation forms. Our team is fully educated in this area and follows strict hygiene and safety protocols at all times. Your treatment will always be carried out safely, professionally and without judgement.

Menopause & Hormonal Changes

We understand that hormonal changes can have a real impact on how you feel, both physically and emotionally. As someone currently experiencing this, there is a personal understanding of how it can affect comfort levels, skin, sensitivity and overall wellbeing. If there is anything we can adjust during your appointment to make you more comfortable, please let us know in advance. This may be small changes, but they can make a difference to your overall experience.

Accessibility

We want to be open about access to the salon so you can make an informed decision before booking.

Sirens City Retreat is located on the second floor and access requires a good level of mobility. There are a number of stairs, and unfortunately this is something we are not currently able to adapt.

We understand that this may limit access for some clients, and while we would like to be able to accommodate everyone, the layout of the building means this is not always possible.

If you are unsure whether the space will be suitable for you, please feel free to get in touch and we will always be honest and help where we can
