Why we use hot wax
We use hot wax for all our intimate treatments, and it is a deliberate choice rather than a default. Hot wax is applied thickly and warm, then left to set for a moment. As it cools it shrinks around the hair and grips the hair itself rather than the skin, so when it is lifted away, without a strip, it takes the hair cleanly from the root while staying kind to the delicate skin underneath.
That difference matters on sensitive areas. Strip wax grips the skin as well as the hair, which can mean more discomfort, more redness and a higher chance of ingrown hairs. The warmth of hot wax also helps open the follicle so the hair releases more easily, and it lifts even short, fine or stubborn hair down to a couple of millimetres. It takes more time and more skill to use well, which is exactly why it is the right wax for intimate treatments.

Your first time, what to expect
If you have never had an intimate wax before, it is completely normal to feel nervous, and most people do. Your therapist will talk you through everything before starting, keep you covered apart from the area being treated, and go at your pace. Please arrive showered, with the hair around half a centimetre long, roughly two weeks of growth, so the wax can grip properly. There may be some redness afterwards, which settles quickly. If you have any health conditions, including diabetes, let us know when you book. We do not carry out intimate waxing beyond a standard bikini during your period.

All of our waxing is described by treatment area and priced on a gender neutral basis, so you simply book the treatment you want. Our therapists are fully trained and insured to carry out waxing on clients without external male genitalia.

Preparation and aftercare
Before your appointment, shower and make sure the hair is around half a centimetre long, roughly two weeks of growth, trimming it down if it is longer, and let us know about any health conditions such as diabetes when you book. Afterwards, for the first day or two, avoid heat, friction, sunbeds, steam rooms, tight clothing and scented products while the skin settles, and use sun protection if the area is exposed to sunlight. From a few days on, exfoliate gently two or three times a week to keep ingrown hairs at bay, and moisturise. It helps to know that your hair grows in cycles, so only some of it is visible at any one time. That is why a first wax does not clear everything for good, and why a regular four to six week rhythm gives the smoothest result, gradually bringing your hair into sync so regrowth comes through finer and sparser over time.
Retinoids and prescription creams
Retinoids thin and resurface the top layer of skin, which is exactly what makes waxing risky while you are using one. If you are using a retinoid, a retinol, or any prescription strength cream on the area, tell us before your appointment. We may need to patch test or ask you to pause the product for a few days first.
Acne medication, including roaccutane
You must not have any waxing while taking acne medication. That includes roaccutane, and for roaccutane specifically we cannot wax you until at least six months after you finish the course. Your skin barrier needs that time to recover, and waxing too soon can cause tearing or burns.

There is some discomfort, but it is usually less than people expect and it passes quickly, because the wax is removed in small, fast sections. Hot wax grips the hair rather than the skin, which makes it gentler, and it tends to get easier with regular appointments as the hair grows back finer.
A Brazilian removes most of the hair but leaves a small strip or triangle at the front. A Hollywood removes all of the hair, front to back. If you are unsure, your therapist will help you decide on the day.
Around half a centimetre, or roughly two weeks of growth, so the wax has enough to grip. If it is longer we can trim it first, and if it is too short we may suggest rebooking so you get the best result.
You can still be waxed for treatments up to a standard bikini. For more intimate treatments we would ask you to book for another time. Just let us know when you book.
