Microneedling Facial Durham – Collagen Boosting Skin Repair

What Is Microneedling?

home graphic 1 1

Microneedling is a powerful, minimally invasive treatment that stimulates collagen and elastin production by creating tiny micro-channels in the skin. This natural healing response strengthens the skin, softens fine lines, reduces acne scars, and improves overall texture.
At Sirens, we use professional microneedling technology and tailor each treatment to
your skin’s needs. It’s one of our most effective options for long-term skin improvement.

FAQs – Microneedling in Durham

Yes—microneedling is considered a very safe treatment when carried out by
trained professionals using sterile equipment. At Sirens, we follow strict hygiene
protocols and tailor every session to your skin type and goals. It’s suitable for most
skin tones and concerns.

That depends on your skin goals. For general rejuvenation, 3–4 sessions spaced
about 4 weeks apart are often enough. For more targeted concerns like scarring or
pigmentation, a full course of 6 sessions may be recommended. We’ll guide you
based on your individual consultation.

We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours after treatment to allow
your skin to heal and reduce any risk of irritation. After that, light mineral-based
makeup may be used if needed. Always follow the specific aftercare advice given

Some clients experience light flaking or dryness 2–3 days after treatment as the
skin regenerates. This is usually mild and temporary. Keeping your skin hydrated and
using the recommended products will help minimise this.

There’s little to no formal downtime, but you may look red or feel warm for 24–72
hours post-treatment—similar to a mild sunburn. Most clients return to normal
activities the same day, though we advise avoiding heat, sun exposure, and intense
exercise for 24–48 hours.

Microneedling in Durham – Science-Led Skin Repair & Anti-Ageing

Microneedling is one of the most effective, science-backed treatments available for improving skin quality, stimulating collagen and supporting long-term skin health. When carried out correctly and on suitable skin, it can significantly improve texture, firmness and overall skin resilience over time.

At Sirens City Retreat, microneedling is approached with care, restraint and clinical understanding. It is not performed for dramatic short-term results, but as part of a thoughtful, long-term skin strategy.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, works by creating controlled micro-channels in the upper layers of the skin. This triggers the skin’s natural repair response, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin.

Rather than forcing rapid change, microneedling allows the skin to rebuild itself gradually. Results develop over weeks and months as the skin strengthens from within.

Our Approach to Microneedling

If you are looking for a treatment that leaves your face covered in blood because it looks dramatic or promises instant results, we are not the right salon for you.

Microneedling is about controlled trauma, not aggressive injury.

The aim is to work within the top layers of the skin, typically around 0.5mm, where collagen stimulation can occur safely. Going deeper does not improve results. In fact, excessive depth increases the risk of scarring, pigmentation issues and long-term skin damage.

A useful way to understand this is to think about how skin heals. A light graze heals smoothly and leaves fresh new skin behind. A deeper cut is more likely to leave a scar. Skin responds in the same way.

One of the biggest risks with aggressive microneedling is that the full effects of trauma can take up to 18 months to show. What may initially appear as glowing skin can later develop into ongoing sensitivity, pigmentation or textural issues.

This is why our treatments are led by science, not trends.

What Microneedling Can Help Improve

Microneedling may be recommended to support:

  • Acne scarring and uneven skin texture
  • Fine lines and early signs of ageing
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sun damage and pigmentation irregularities
  • Loss of firmness and elasticity

Because the treatment works by strengthening the skin from within, results build gradually and improve with consistency.

Who Microneedling Is Suitable For

Microneedling may be suitable if your skin is:

  • Generally healthy and resilient
  • Free from active infection or inflammation
  • Looking for long-term improvement rather than surface exfoliation

A consultation is always advised to ensure microneedling is appropriate and to determine the correct treatment plan.

When Microneedling Is Not Recommended

Microneedling may not be suitable if you have:

  • Active acne or infection
  • A compromised or impaired skin barrier
  • Significant inflammation or sensitivity
  • Certain medical or skin conditions

If microneedling is not appropriate, we will always recommend alternative treatments that better support your skin health.

Microneedling as a Long-Term Anti-Ageing Strategy

Microneedling is one of the treatments I recommend most for anti-ageing and skin longevity when used correctly and consistently.

It is not brand-led or trend-driven. It is supported by decades of research and clinical use. When built into a long-term skin plan, microneedling helps maintain collagen levels, support firmness and improve overall skin quality as the skin ages.

This is about protecting your skin for the future, not chasing short-term results.
