Sirens Beauty Salon · Durham City Centre
Natural nail care keeps your own nails healthy, strong and well shaped without gel, acrylic or extensions. More people are choosing this, and 2026 has brought a clear move towards nail health over constant enhancement. Whether you have never worn gel or you are moving away from it, natural never means basic here. The health of your nails comes first in every treatment.
You may have seen nail buffing appear as a trend recently. We keep it to a minimum at Sirens, and there is a good reason. Your nail is made of many thin layers of keratin, the same protein as your hair, and buffing grinds those layers away. It can look smooth for a day or two, but underneath the nail is left thinner and weaker, more likely to peel, split and bend, and those layers take a long time to grow back.
Rather than strip the nail back, we protect and condition it, shaping carefully and bringing out a healthy shine that keeps your nail strength intact. It comes from understanding how the nail is built and putting its health first.

Two treatments, both built around the health of your nails.
A skilled thirty minute treatment to keep your nails looking cared for. We file and shape to the shape you prefer, tidy and nourish your cuticles, which seal and protect the nail, and finish with a conditioning treatment. Ideal between fuller appointments, and a proper service in its own right.
Our complete natural nail treatment. It begins with a full consultation on the condition of your nails, then a soak and preparation, detailed cuticle work, file and shape, a specialist nourishing treatment, and a hand and arm massage before a finishing treatment with a natural shine. The massage, the nourishing treatment and the finish are all built in, never added extras.
Every price below is exactly as you will find it when you book online, where the quick tidy up is also shown.
Consultation, soak and preparation, detailed cuticle work, specialist nourishing treatment, hand and arm massage, and a natural shine finish.
Builder in a bottle protects and strengthens natural nails while they grow.

If you have been wearing gel, BIAB or acrylic and want to give your nails a rest, this is the right place to start. After enhancements come off, the natural nail often feels thin, dry or ridged, which is normal, and the nail itself is usually not permanently damaged. It simply needs to grow out. Nails grow around three millimetres a month, so a full grow out takes roughly three to six months.
The most useful thing at home is to keep the nail and cuticle hydrated with daily cuticle oil, keep nails shorter while they recover, and wear gloves for washing up. No product speeds growth beyond its natural rate, but the right care keeps the new nail strong as it comes through, and we stock specialist strengthening and growth products to use at home, so ask your therapist for a recommendation.
We were runner up in the Scratch Awards 2024, hold over 30 industry awards and hundreds of five star reviews. Our technicians are specialists in BIAB and gel polish, with over 350 colours, glitters, chrome and nail art options, and everything we do is led by nail health, which is why so many clients have nail journeys with us spanning 10 to 15 years.
Clients from Belmont, Gilesgate, Neville’s Cross and across Durham trust us for nails that combine beauty, strength and consistency. When you fancy colour or extensions, our nail salon page has the full range, and your feet are covered on our pedicure page.
Yes. If you want to move away from gel or acrylic, we are here to help you do it well. We look after your natural nails, keep them neat and conditioned, and can add a natural manicure or a gentle polish whenever you want colour. There is never any pressure to have enhancements.
Your natural nails often feel thin or rough straight after enhancements come off, which is normal. The nail itself is fine, it simply needs time and care to recover. Regular conditioning, gentle shaping and a sensible length help them harden up again over a few weeks.
We keep buffing to a minimum. The surface of your nail is made of many fine layers of keratin, and heavy buffing removes them and thins the nail. We shape and condition instead, so your nails look neat and healthy while keeping their strength.
Every three to four weeks suits most people who want their natural nails kept neat and conditioned. If you are growing your nails out after enhancements, a regular appointment keeps them shaped and stops them catching or splitting while they recover.
