08 Jul Why you should never choose cheap microneedling
I don’t often warn people off things, but this is one I feel strongly about. Microneedling is one of the most effective skin treatments there is when it’s done properly, and one of the most damaging when it isn’t. And because the damage can be invisible at first, a lot of people don’t realise they’ve been let down until it’s too late.
So before you book somewhere on price alone, let me explain what you’re actually paying for with microneedling, and why the cheap option can cost you far more in the long run.
Microneedling isn’t just a facial
It works by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate collagen and improve texture, scarring and pigmentation. For that to be safe, the needles must be single-use, sterile and medical-grade, and the serums used afterwards must be professional products formulated specifically to be infused into the skin. This is a clinical treatment, not a quick add-on.
Damage doesn’t always show straight away
This is the part that worries me most. Problems from poor microneedling can take up to 18 months to appear, which means the link is easy to miss. When they do surface, they can include hyperpigmentation, loss of elasticity, ongoing inflammation and sensitivity, and long-term barrier damage.
What are you really paying for?
I’ve seen treatments advertised for less than my professional-grade serum costs me on its own. That tells you something. If the price seems too good to be true, it’s fair to ask whether the equipment is certified, whether the serums are infusion-grade, and whether the person holding the device is properly trained and insured.
How we do it at Sirens
We use medical-grade, sterile, single-use needles and certified devices, professional infusion-specific serums, and our team is experienced, trained and insured. It costs more to do it this way. That’s rather the point.
If you’d like microneedling done safely and well, explore microneedling or book online.
